Festival for the Eno
Where: West Point on the Eno
When: Sat, July 1 and Tues, July 4
Festival for the Eno combines music, dance, crafts and environmental education to raise money for land conservancy. Rooted in the NC Folklife Festival first held in the area in 1976, the festival still aims to preserve and present culture and provide hands-on activities. Attendees will be able to participate in pottery, kayaking, weaving, urban farming and more.

Free Fishing Day on July 4th
Where: All of North Carolina
When: Tuesday, July 4
Free fishing day gives residents and out-of-state visitors the opportunity to fish without a fishing license anywhere in the state. Annual free fishing day was started in 1994, and was created to promote fishing amongst those who may not be too familiar. Independence Day Celebrations
Garner
July 3, Lake Benson Park. Gates open at 5 pm. Fireworks begin immediately after performance by NC Symphony which starts at 8:30 pm.
Wake Forest
July 3, Heritage High School Stadium. Performance by Band of Oz followed by fireworks around 9:30.
Holly Springs
July 5, Sugg Farm at Base Lake Park. Fireworks start around 9:15
Raleigh
July 4, Dorothea Dix Park. Fireworks start at 9:30 pm. There will be food vendors and activities. Dix park itself will be closed to cars, but there will be shuttles running from Moore Square Parking Deck and more parking available at Red Hat Parking Deck and Centennial Campus.
Cary
July 4, Koka Booth Amphitheater. The NC Symphony will play at 7:30 and fireworks will start at 9:25 pm.
Chapel Hill
July 4, Southern Community Park. Fireworks start around 9 pm
Durham
July 4, Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Fireworks start after the baseball game ends. The stadium will open for free at the end of the 7th inning for those that want to watch the fireworks from inside the ball park.
Raleigh Summer Concert Series
Where: Pullen Park and Fletcher Park, Raleigh
When: Sunday, July 9 and most Sundays, 6 – 8 pm until September 24
The City of Raleigh is putting on free concerts throughout the summer in Pullen Park and Fletcher Park. Shows feature local acts and take place on Sundays from 6 – 8 pm. There may be some food and drinks available for purchase but attendees can also bring their own. Don’t forget a chair or blanket.

Uproar Festival of Public Art
Where: Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough
When: July 14 – Aug 12
The first Uproar festival will showcase 60 large-scale works of art throughout the downtown areas of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough. It features art exclusively from artists from southeastern states. The festival is entirely free for the public and community members have been tasked with voting on their favorite piece of art.

Homeownership Information Fair
Where: Carolina Pines Community Center, Raleigh
When: Saturday, July 15, 10 am – 1 pm
The City of Raleigh is hosting an information fair for prospective and current homeowners. The fair will cover everything from homebuyer assistance programs, to home repairs, to property tax relief programs. There will be light refreshment and childcare available.
GalaxyCon Raleigh
Where: Raleigh Convention Center
When: July 27-30
GalaxyCon is a 4-day festival celebrating comic books, pop culture, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, gaming, cosplay and more. There will be a massive comic book market, costume and cosplay contests, a plethora of displays, activities, comic book workshops and more.
