Festival for the Eno

Where: West Point on the Eno, Durham

When: Thursday, July 4 and Saturday, July 6

Festival for the Eno combines music, dance, crafts and environmental education to raise money for land conservancy. Rooted in the NC Folklife Festival first held in the area in 1976, the festival still aims to preserve and present culture and provide hands-on activities. Attendees will be able to participate in pottery, kayaking, weaving, urban farming and more.

Independence Day Celebrations

Garner

July 3, Lake Benson Park. Gates open at 5 pm. Fireworks begin immediately after performance by NC Symphony which starts at 8:30 pm.

Wake Forest

July 3, Heritage High School Stadium. Performance by Band of Oz followed by fireworks around 9:30.

Holly Springs

July 5, Sugg Farm at Base Lake Park. Fireworks start around 9:15.

Raleigh

July 4, Dorothea Dix Park. Fireworks start at 9:30 pm. There will be food vendors and activities. Dix Park itself will be closed to cars, but there will be shuttles running from Moore Square Parking Deck and more parking available at Red Hat Parking Deck and Centennial Campus.

Cary

July 4, Koka Booth Amphitheater. The NC Symphony will play at 7:30 and fireworks will start at 9:25 pm.

Chapel Hill

July 4, Southern Community Park. Fireworks start around 9 pm

Durham

July 4, Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Fireworks start after the baseball game ends. The stadium will open for free at the end of the 7th inning for those that want to watch the fireworks from inside the ball park.

GalaxyCon Raleigh

Where: Raleigh Convention Center

When: July 25-28

GalaxyCon is a 4-day festival celebrating comic books, pop culture, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, gaming, cosplay and more. There will be a massive comic book market, costume and cosplay contests, a plethora of displays, activities, comic book workshops and more.

Raleigh Summer Concert Series

Where: Pullen Park and Fletcher Park, Raleigh

When: Sunday, July 28, and most Sundays throughout August and September, 6 – 8 pm until September 24

The City of Raleigh is putting on free concerts throughout the summer in Pullen Park and Fletcher Park. Shows feature local acts and take place on Sundays from 6 – 8 pm. There may be some food and drinks available for purchase but attendees can also bring their own. Don’t forget a chair or blanket.
