First Friday
Where: Downtown Raleigh
When: Friday, Feb 7 (and every first Friday of the month)
Once a month art galleries and studios around Downtown Raleigh open their doors to the public for an evening of fun. Several restaurants, bars and stores also participate in the evening with special offerings for attendees that flock to the streets.
FairyTale Tea
Where: Marbles Kids Museum, Downtown Raleigh
When: Saturday, Sunday, Feb 8, 9; 9:30 am, 12:30 pm, 3:30 pm
Marbles, a generally terrific place to take kids, will be putting on a special event filled with magic, sparkling crowns, fairytales, and a tea party. Each session is 90 minutes long and children are required to have at least one adult with them.

ArtHouse
Where: CAM Raleigh
When: Saturday, Feb 22, 6 – 10 pm
CAM is a wonderful contemporary art museum located in Raleigh’s Warehouse District. It regularly changes its exhibits and often collaborates with artists themselves. Every year the museum puts on ArtHouse, a philanthropic event that raises money for art education, community artists and the museum itself. Even if you can’t make it to the event, make sure to check out CAM, along with everything else the Warehouse District has to offer.

Carolina Jazz Festival
Where: Several shows throughout Chapel Hill and Durham
When: Thursday – Saturday, Feb 27 – March 1
The 48th Carolina Jazz festival will host performances by the UNC Jazz band, faculty, and featured guests Keith Brown and the Dominican Jazz Project. There will be several shows, some of which cost to attend and others that are free.

Nevermore Film Festival
Where: Carolina Theatre, Durham
When: Friday – Sunday, Feb 28 – March 2
“Created in 1999, The Nevermore Film Festival is a juried competition festival which programs brand-new genre feature and short films from around the world. The festival seeks submissions for narrative feature and shorts with an emphasis on horror, science fiction, dark fantasy, animation, mystery/suspense, and action-thrillers.” Individual tickets are $14, 5-movie passes are $60 and 10-movie passes are $120.
